Graphic Design Synthesis

Graphic Design & Branding

This semester-long project was completed as part of my Graphic Design Synthesis course. The assignment challenged me to select a UNESCO World Heritage Site and develop a comprehensive visual identity system that could be applied consistently across a wide range of mediums.

For my project, I chose Brasília, drawing inspiration from the geometric yet organic forms of architect Oscar Niemeyer’s iconic modernist buildings. The visual identity was rooted in the city's distinctive architectural language, combining clean curves and bold geometric structures. The color palette was inspired by Brasília’s environment, where the rich red soil creates a striking contrast against the bright white, futuristic architecture.

The final identity system included:

- Logo and logotype
- App icon
- Letterhead, business card, and envelope
- Informational sheet
- Three magazine advertisements
- Landing page design
- Site signage
- Vehicle wrap
- Educational booklet covering the site and UNESCO
- Large-format poster showcasing the complete identity system

This project challenged me to think strategically about branding across multiple touchpoints and formats. It strengthened my ability to build cohesive visual systems, maintain consistency across applications, and make intentional design decisions that support a unified brand narrative.
